Calçada Apartment
is situated close to many local attractions, within a 16km (10
mile) radius there are numerous places of interest to visitors. São
Bras de Alportel has a lot to offer, there is a good choice of cafes,
bars and pastelarias together with superb restaurants catering for all
tastes, churches, museums, cinemas and a municipal swimming pool complex.
For those interested in the history of a typical Algarvian town a visit
to the local Museum will provide a superb view of life as it used to be
in the not so distant past.
The closest neighbouring town is Loulé which is known for it's
Coppersmiths and Basket weavers together with it's famous Saturday market.
There is an old walled Castle with Roman ruins, Art Galleries and quaint
cobbled back streets

where time seems to have stood still. If you enjoy a cultural experience,
their are many very attractive churches and museums in Loulé
and it's neighbouring towns of São Lourenço (near Almancil),
and
Santa Bárbara de Nexe. There is also an 18th century Palace in the neighbouring town of Estoi. The Algarve capital of Faro is less than 15 minutes drive away, where you will find an old walled city, churches and museums, countless restaurants with superb food to tempt you. Faro has a modern shopping precinct, whilst on the outskirts there are new shopping malls with every type of restaurant and cafe you could envisage just waiting for you to sample their offerings. |

A
short drive east towards the lovely coastal town of Tavira provides some
beautiful scenery and little villages like Santa Catarina on route.
For those interested in sun and sand, there are numerous sandy beaches
to be found within a 20 minute drive, long sandy beaches overlooked by
stunning golf courses and the inland hills. Algarvian beaches generally
have a gentle slope into deeper water and are quite safe. Beach guards
attend all the major beaches during the summer months. The Algarve has
more "Blue Flag" beaches than any other part of Portugal. Most
beaches offer a choice of quiet relaxing rest or for the more energetic,
windsurfing, jetskis, water skiing and the "Banana" ride.
For
the sportsman, there is no shortage of Golf courses with a choice of eight
superb courses all within easy travelling distance, there are Tennis and
Squash courts and several very good Horse Riding centres.
